Circuit Training: Why it Works
Anyone who is bored with their exercise routine, or who is looking for a routine that delivers fast results in a short amount of time should consider circuit training. Circuit training is a combination of muscle resistance and cardio moves performed in rapid succession. When performed correctly, circuit training is intense, and keeps the heart rate in it’s fate burning zone. It offers the unique benefit of being able to do cardio and stength moves all in one work out session. This is what makes circuit training such an effective plan. Aside from the calorie burning benefits to circuit training, it is an excellent choice because it can be performed at home or in the gym, and they can be performed with our without equipment. A good circuit routine can be completed in as little as thirty minutes.
To perform a circuit training routine with equipment, simply choose six to eight strength training moves and place the required equipment in a circle, or any other formation that accomadates the person performing the routine. Choose a starting point and set a timer for at least thirty seconds. Peform the repetitions as fast as possible while maintaining proper form. When the the timer goes off, move on to the next station. If space allows, it’s advisable to run between stations.
Performing a circuit without equipment is simple. Follow the same instructions as above, but take the equipment out of the equation. It may be difficult to come up with moves that don’t require equipment. Some common ones are, push ups, sit ups, chair dips, an squats. Either method is intense and effective.
Anybody with a schedule is so packed they believe the can’t carve out some time in their day exercise needs to get on the circuit training bandwagon. With it’s calorie burning powers, and the graciously short amount of time, it’s an extremely simple and effective routine that will yield unbelievable results.
